உருவங்கண்டு உறவை நாடும் மனிதயினமே
நிலையில்லா உருவத்தை நிரந்தரமென நினைத்து
விலைமதிப்பற்ற வாழ்க்கையை
வீணில் தொலைப்பவர்களைக்கண்டும்
உருவம் உங்களுக்கு உன்னதாமாக தெரிகிறதா?

The Realist

The man who solely seeks external beauty is blind;
for his superficial longing for eternal perfection,
provides him with nothing but
temporary bliss.
Is physical flawlessness still deemed
as indispensable in your eyes,
when the timeless deception of beauty
has ceaselessly destroyed lives?


Mathialagan Manimala aims to pass on her knowledge and passion for the Tamil language to youths young in Singapore. As a member of the Association of Singapore Tamil Writers, Kathai Kalam, she has written several short stories and book reviews for which she has received multiple awards.
